RULES.

1.      Teams are responsible for being at their courts and ready to play for their first game and all subsequent games until they are eliminated from the tournament. “Ready to play” means that all team members have checked in with their Pod Coordinator, signed and returned their waivers, made any other necessary preparations to play, and are ready to take the court. All players and fans must be a minimum of 18 years old. ID’s will be checked at entrance.

2.      Teams that are not present and ready to play may be penalized one point for each minute they are late, up to the total number of points for the game.

3.      Each match is 2 games, rally scoring to 15. If circumstances require, (e.g., weather delays, games delays, etc.) games may be shortened in order to speed the pace of the tournament. The number of points and games to be played in championship rounds will be determined by the Tournament Director.

4.      A team must win by 2 points.

5.      A maximum of 8 people are allowed on the court at one time, two of whom must be women. Ten player maximum per team roster.

6.      The ball may be served from the rear right back of court, and may be hit in any manner with the hand.

7.      It is a foul for players to touch the net.

8.      Players of the serving team must rotate clockwise when receiving the ball serve, & the right back must serve.

9.      A point will be scored each time the ball is put into play, regardless of which team is serving.

10.   Holding and throwing the ball while it is in play is a foul and will result in a point for the other team.

11.   Maximum of three hits to a side. A player may not hit the ball twice in succession. A block is not considered a hit.

12.   A ball may be played by any part of the body.

13.   It is a violation to spike with two hands.

14.   Only the front line is permitted to spike.

15.   Everyone participating must wear flat soled shoes. NO SPIKES.

16.   Rules are subject to referee’s interpretation. Referees’ decisions are final.

17.   Serving rotations must stay the same.

18.   No blocking or attacking the serve.

19.   Change sides after each game.

20.   No reaching over the net and interfering with a set.

21.   If third game is required, starting side is determined by winner of Rock Paper Scissors.

22.   Any player who continues to argue with or abuses an official will be asked to leave. A player ejected from a match will not be allowed to participate in any further matches.

23.   Substituting will only be allowed from the serving position, except in cases of injury.

24.   If the ball splashes water in the court when it lands, it is considered in bounds.

25.   A player cannot play for more than one team.

26.   If a team needs a player, arrangements must be made with the Tournament Director.

ALCOHOL AT MUD VOLLEYBALL

·         There is no alcohol allowed in the courts themselves.

·         Bring your own alcohol. There will be no alcohol sold at the tournament. There will however be food and non alcoholic drinks that can be purchased at the food stand. 

 

MARIJUANA USE

·         It remains illegal to use cannabis in public, in schools, in parks, government buildings, on a bus or train, in a car or truck, or near kids. The law prohibits use anywhere you can reasonably expect to be observed by others.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

·         No animals are allowed.

·         No glass is allowed. No exceptions.

·         Large furniture or grills are not allowed

·         Basic First Aid is available at the First Aid Tent next to the Main stage.

·         Time between matches will vary. Each team is responsible for being at their court at the scheduled time.

·         It is recommended that players wear high top shoes or secure their shoes to their feet with duct tape.  All players MUST wear shoes while playing. No SPIKES allowed.

·         We play rain or shine. In case of an electrical storm, the tournament will be reduced as necessary to determine a champion. The length of a storm delay will be determined by the Tournament Director in consultation with Fire and Police Departments with information from the National Weather Service.

·         Cancellations/refunds will not be allowed 7 days prior to tournament

·         Souvenir t-shirts, hats, chairs, and tents will be sold prior to and at the tournament on event day. Cash, debit or credit will be accepted.

·         PICK UP YOUR OWN TRASH BEFORE YOU LEAVE & PLACE IT IN A DUMPSTER OR TRASH CONTAINER. If we have to do a lot of clean- up, the price of playing will go up for next year.

What you need to know

·         Anyone can have mild to severe symptoms.

·         Older adults and people who have severe underlying medical conditions like heart or lung disease or diabetes seem to be at higher risk for developing more serious complications from COVID-19 illness.

·         If you test positive or show signs of this illness, stay home.
